Drama! Suspense! Laughter! Tears! Applause!
No, not another made-for-tv series or a Hollywood blockbuster.
It’s a good old-fashioned spelling bee.
Join PCEF starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 25 at Penn Central Middle School as we host 60 school champion spellers from Bucks and Montgomery counties at the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee.
PCEF revived the regional spelling bee in 2010. With support from The Council for the Advancement of Public Schools, the Pennridge Education Association, and Tiger Printing Group, the bee has doubled its participation from just over 30 schools represented in 2010 to the 60 schools represented this year.
Last year, Kathy Tran of Strayer Middle School in the Quakertown School District won the bee and represented the region in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. Her winning word was "cryptozoa."
Kudos also to runners-up Hailey McGarrity of Arcola Intermediate School in Methacton School District and Jimmy Martin of J.M. Grasse Elementary in Pennridge School District.
